How To Replace Your Puro Core Filter

While every brand and type of filter have slightly different specs, the fundamentals are the same. Let’s do this!

STEP 01 | Close the Raw Water Valve

Head under the sink and close the raw water valve — turn it clockwise to shut off. This stops water from flowing into the unit while you work. Righty-tighty, remember.

STEP 02 | Remove the Plug

Unplug the power from the wall.
⚠️ Before you touch anything inside the unit, the power needs to be fully out.

STEP 03 | Unplug the Water Inlet & Source Water Valve

Disconnect the water inlet and the source water valve from the unit. These are the connections that feed water in — detaching them now keeps things clean and drip-free for the next step.

STEP 04 | Drain the Water Completely

This one's important — don't rush it. Drain all the water remaining inside the water purifier completely via the faucet before you open anything up. This helps to avoid any liquid splashing all over within the water purifier.

STEP 05 | Loosen the Top Two Screws on the Back

Flip the unit around and grab your screwdriver. There are two screws at the top of the back panel — loosen both of them. This is the screwdriver's entire moment. Let it shine.

STEP 06 | Slide the Lid Backwards to Remove

Once the screws are loosened, slide the top lid backward to remove it. No lifting, just a clean slide back and it comes right off, exposing the filter housing inside.

STEP 07 | Detach the Filter

You'll see a small lock collar on the filter connection. Push it inward to unlock — it's a push-to-release mechanism, not a twist. Once it releases, you're ready to pull.
💡 Use your thumb or fingertip, not your nail. That makes works a whole lot easier!

STEP 08 | Remove the Filter

Pull the old filter straight out — thank the old filter for doing its job for the year.

STEP 09 | Install the New Filter

Take your fresh filter and place it straight in until it's fully seated. Make sure the orientation is correct before connecting them with the piping. Then, give it a gentle tug to confirm it's locked. You'll feel it click into place — that click is your green light.

STEP 10 | Slide the Lid Forward Until It Locks Into Place

Slide the top lid back forward — the reverse of how you removed it. Push it until you feel it lock into position. If it's not sitting correctly, check that nothing is obstructing it and try again.

STEP 11 | Reinstall & Tighten the Top Two Screws

Screw both top screws back in. You don't need to go superhero-tight — just firm enough that the panel is secure and isn't going anywhere.

STEP 12 | Plug In the Water Inlet & Source Water Valve

Reconnect the water inlet and source water valve back onto the unit. Make sure they're fully seated — a loose connection here means drips later, and nobody wants that.

STEP 13 | Open the Raw Water Valve

Head back under the sink and turn the raw water valve back open — counter-clockwise this time, lefty-loosey. Water can now flow back into the unit.

STEP 14 | Flush the Filter for 5 Litres

Place your bucket under the unit and lift the lever to let water flow continuously. Let it run for 5 litres (about 10 minutes). This washes away any fine particles from the new filter before they reach your glass. You might see slightly cloudy or dark water at first — totally normal, confirm not harmful. Just let it run until it clears.
⚠️ Don't skip the flush. The first few litres do the heavy lifting — they're cleaning the filter so the filter can clean your water.

STEP 15 | Plug It Back In

Power back on. Both the cold and hot water switches too. The indicator lights will come on — that's your cue that everything's running as it should.
💡 Cold water will be ready in about 15-30 minutes. Hot water takes about 20 minutes.

Watch It Done Right

Why would you pay for services that you can even do it yourself?

When Should You Do This Again?

For a household of around 4 people, replace the filter once a year.

The filter has a rated capacity of 1,500 litres, so a yearly swap keeps things comfortably within spec.

Set a reminder on your phone, stick a Post-it on the unit, write it in your diary — whatever gets the job done.
